Conflict Catalyst and Peacebuilding Tool?
DigitalTechnology in Nigeria’s Conflict Landscape

In recent years, digital technologies such as social media have become central tools in the organization of social movements and the communication of conflicts. Medinat’s project scrutinized the use of digital technologies in Nigeria to analyze how the role of digital technologies can be transformed from catalysts of social conflicts into peacebuilding tools. The project consisted of case studies of two social movements in Nigeria, namely the #ENDSARS movement and the Boko Haram terrorist insurgency. Medinat investigated the extent to which digital technologies can be used to identify the best peacebuilding approaches, as well as how extremist ideologies might be countered using digital technologies.
