Victoria Lorrimar
Senior Fellow 2026–2027

Victoria Lorrimar is Director of the Centre for Technology and Human Futures and Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Ethics and Society at the University of Notre Dame Australia. Her research explores the many ways in which people construct understandings of self in relation to the world, and how this takes place against a complex backdrop of religion, spirituality, and politics. She is particularly interested in biohacking, i.e. the use of various practices and technologies to optimize performance and/or wellbeing, as a contemporary phenomenon of self-creation, the interplay between technology and spirituality, and the growing impact of algorithms and digital culture on self-determination and our understanding of what it means to be human. Victoria also works on the social and ethical implications of AI and emerging technologies for augmenting human biology and capacities.

Victoria is Series Editor for Cambridge Elements in Religion and Technology. She holds a DPhil in Science and Religion from the University of Oxford (UK) and a postgraduate diploma in psychology from the University of Adelaide (AU). She has co-led several research grants funded by the John Templeton Foundation at the intersection of science, religion, and technology including one on the relationship of everyday biohacking to spirituality and meaning-making and another on the psychology of non-religious experiences of awe.
