Fellows
Chloé PasinDr. Chloé Pasin (born 1991 in Toulouse, France) is a computational immunologist and biostatistician. Her research focuses on developing and applying quantitative methods to a wide range of clinical and immunological topics, including Ebola, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantations, and HIV immunotherapies. She is interested in quantifying and identifying factors underlying the variability of immune responses in humans. She recently started to explore sex and gender as major determinants of immunity and health and received a project funding from the Swiss HIV Cohort Study to study how sex hormone intake influences immunity in cis and trans women living with HIV. She wishes to bring her quantitative expertise and her interest in epidemiological, immunological, clinical, and social questions to the field of gender medicine – which she views as necessary for shaping future and more equitable care strategies. Chloé has a background in mathematics and received her PhD in biostatistics from the University of Bordeaux in 2018. She was then a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. In October 2020, she joined the Institute of Medical Virology at the University of Zurich and the Division of Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology at the University Hospital Zurich as a postdoctoral researcher. Associate fellowRoger Kouyos, Professor at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, University of Zurich & University Hospital Zurich * Fellowship projectThe Gendered Immune System: The Missing Component in Mental Health Research The overall aim of the project is to quantify the role of sex and gender in immunity and depression, in cis women, trans women, and cis men living with HIV. Sex and gender differences in brain health and immunity are remarkable, and recent findings have highlighted interplays between the immune system and the central nervous system. Due to the multifactorial aspect of sex and gender differences in immunity and mental health, the approach is to study a large cohort of participants with detailed immunological and clinical longitudinal data and use specific quantitative methods, such as Bayesian networks. Altogether, the project will evaluate the complex interactions between immunity, medication intake, and depression, and unravel the role of sex and gender in this network. |
Fellowship program
Located in the historic Semper Observatory, the Collegium Helveticum offers academics and artists a highly international, interdisciplinary environment where they can work on their research projects. |
