Public event (ETH Global Lecture):
The Ministry for the Future, October 23, 2023, 17:00–18:00

How can we find narratives about a sustainable future involving different audiences? Kim Stanley Robinson, science fiction writer and author of the best-selling book The Ministry of the Future,  joined Myriam Dunn Cavelty from the ETH Center for Security Studies, ETH climate scientist Erich Fischer, and cultural anthropologist Christine Lötscher from the University of Zurich for a panel discussion at the Collegium. Together, they will explore how futures storytelling can be used as a tool for dialogue with society. The discussion, organized in cooperation with ETH Strategic Foresight Hub, continued in the form of a workshop with fellows of the Collegium, invited experts, and students from the Collegium’s supporting institutions.

Later that day, Robinson spoke with Nako Nakatsuka and Chris Luebkeman about the impact of his The Ministery for the Future and discuss the environmental crisis we all face in this year’s ETH Global Lecture. Watch Robinson’s entire ETH Global Lecture in the video below.
