Sidharthan Maunaguru is an associate professor of anthropology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the South Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on the anthropology of violence, migration, politics, religion, sovereignty, conscience, and future/-s. His work often includes multi-site fieldwork on Sri Lankan Tamil communities and intersects with anthropology, history, and philosophy.
As a senior fellow at the Collegium, Sid worked on a collaborative research project on notions of futures along with the two connected concepts of “uncertainty” and the “unknown.” He aimed to bring together an interdisciplinary team of scholars to think with futures, multiple futures, and politics of futures at the intersection of human and nonhuman.
