Carl Haas
Senior Fellow 2022–2023

Carl Haas is professor at the University of Waterloo, where he holds a research chair at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on achieving circularity in the built environment. Our built environment places heavy loads on our materials and waste flows; materials reuse reduces such loads. As a senior fellow at the Collegium Helveticum, Carl hopes to bring together artists, architects, engineers, ethicists, humanities scholars, economists, and scientists to imagine how we can make the reuse of building and construction materials attractive, ethical, and economical.
